KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd (SMA) plans to increase production of the Suzuki Swift model to 700 units monthly compared with the current output of 400 units.
Managing Director Ibrahim Maidin said the production would be stepped up in the current financial year ending March 31, 2012 as demand continued unabated for the model which accounted for 67 per cent of the company's total sales.
Todate, almost 20,000 units of the Suzuki Swift have been sold in Malaysia.
"The manufacturing plant is operating on one shift and we will soon increase output by doubling production," he told reporters after launching the new Suzuki Swift GX model here Wednesday.
Ibrahim said its sole production plant, located in Pekan, Pahang, manufactured the Suzuki Swift model while other Suzuki models were manufactured in Japan.
On the newly launched Suzuki Swift GX, he said the new model would provide customers an economical car, which has not compromised on safety, and offered value for money with an on-the-road price of RM65,888.
